2023 - Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)

For the 2023 show, the Sweet Tooth truck was a full-scale, functional build designed to closely match the iconic look from the games. Here's a breakdown of the real-world build:

Base Vehicle:

  • Model: The real truck is based on a 1980s/1990s Chevrolet Step Van or a similar style of box truck used commonly by ice cream vendors.

  • These trucks have a large, squared-off cargo area and a short nose cab, making them ideal for modification.

Design Features:

  • Color & Exterior: Weathered white with rust streaks, pinkish-red accents, and horror-themed graffiti or blood smears. It looks dirty and menacing rather than cheerful.

  • Clown Head: A giant flaming clown head is mounted on the roof—possibly the most iconic feature. In the show, the flames are CGI-enhanced, but the head itself was a practical prop in many scenes.

  • Weapons (Fictionalized): While the games feature machine guns and rockets, the real-life truck had mock-up weapon mounts and prop rockets for looks. These weren’t operational weapons but were detailed enough for close-up camera work.

Interior:

  • The inside was dressed with creepy clown décor, flashing lights, and practical driving components. It was built to be drivable on set, though action scenes likely used stunt doubles or green-screened elements.

Performance:

  • Though based on a normal step van chassis, it had beefed-up suspension and tires for durability during stunts.

  • In off-camera usage, it's treated as a stunt vehicle—likely reinforced for safety and rough terrain driving.

  • Peacock’s Twisted Metal (2023): The truck was prominently used in multiple episodes, driven by Sweet Tooth, played physically by wrestler Samoa Joe and voiced by Will Arnett.
